Facial soft tissue with right upper eyelid & eyebrow reconstruction of a 24-year-old female due to severe facial injuries in a road traffic accident

A 24-year-old medical student met a road traffic accident sustaining severe head & facial injuries. She was brought to Apollomedics Emergency. The patient was admitted to the ICU. The patient had extensive facial soft tissue injury with doubtful vascularity of avulsed skin flap endangering the right eyebrow and right upper eyelid. An early intervention was necessary to save the right eyebrow and eyelid.

After stabilisation, the patient underwent facial soft tissue reconstruction with right upper eyelid and eyebrow reconstruction by the plastic surgery team – Dr Nikhil Puri & Dr Ashish Vilas Ukey.

The patient responded well to critical care & neurosurgery treatment and was gradually shifted to the ward. The patient was discharged satisfactorily with good functional and cosmetic outcomes.
